Conductive paint operation

 Lesson Objectives:
  1. Students will learn about conductivity and circuits
  2. Students will learn about the engineering design process
  3. Students will construct their own game of operation using conductive paint and paper plates

Materials:
  • Bare Conductive Paint (one 50mL jar is more than enough for 25 students)
  • Small Paint Brushes
  • Foam Plates
  • LEDs or Buzzers (while the buzzers are fun, they do get a little noisy and cost more than LEDs!)
  • 9V Batteries
  • Battery - Wire Connectors
  • Tweezers
  • Un-insulated wire (~2ft per student)
  • Electrical Tape
  • Scissors
  • Tin foil
  • Markers/Decorating Supplies

Let's Get Started!

Begin by explaining how the original game of Operation works, and get the students excited to build their own version of the game. The students should then follow the directions outlined in the student handout to construct their own version of Operation!
