Let's Get Started!

Animals often blend in with their surroundings to help them hide from predators or sneak up on prey. Discuss various types of camouflage with students such as cryptic coloration and mimicry. Show them photographic or video examples.
Have students, working in groups or individually, brainstorm ways that an animal could blend into the surroundings of the makerspace/classroom. Have students choose one of these methods and create an animal that blends into the room.
Once all of the animals are complete, have the students place them in the appropriate spots around the room and invite in some guests to try to spot them.
